Nowadays, in Battambang, many children and their families live in difficult conditions. They drop out of school, are victims of domestic violence, use drugs and/or go to work illegally in Thailand under extremely poor conditions.
Phare Ponleu Selpak seeks to remedy this and, for that, wishes to give and facilitate access to school, arts and artistic training to the children and young adults of his community.
A school like no other
The association was founded in 1994 by nine young men returning from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. Over time, this small association has become a campus (from kindergarten to university) where the circus is art, performance, and poetry. The best artist school in Cambodia - and the circus of the same name - opens its doors. It teaches the art of the show but also drawing, painting, modern and traditional dances. Go to meet this wonderful institution where no child pays (so you will indirectly participate in a child's tuition just with your visit). The atmosphere is unique and magical. You will visit all the infrastructures and will attend a course.
